પ્રત્યેક સર્જક
ઈચ્છે છે કે તેની કળાકૃતિ કે રચના વાચકો કે ભાવકો સુધી પહોંચે. અને તેના માટે તે
શક્યત: બધાં જ પ્રયત્નો કરે છે. પણ દરેકને તેમાં સફળતા મળતી નથી. કારણ દરેક તેના
ખર્ચને પહોંચી વળવા સક્ષમ નથી. જી, હા કોઈપણ કળાકૃતિ કે રચના વાચકો કે ભાવકો સુધી પહોંચાડવી હોય
તો હજારો રૂપિયાનો ખર્ચ થયી શકે છે. કારણ જ્યાં સુધી તમે sellable નથી બનતા ત્યાં સુધી કોઈપણ પ્રકાશક કે નિર્માતા તમારી કળાકૃતિ
કે રચના વાચકો કે ભાવકો સુધી પહોંચાડવા તૈયાર નથી થતો. અને એ શું કામ તૈયાર થાય..? કારણ
"ગાંઠના ગોપીચંદ કરીને ક્યાં સુધી..?"

આવા તમામ રચનાકારોને અનેક દરવાજા ખોલી આપ્યા છે. આવા દરવાજા માત્ર દ્રશ્ય-શ્રાવ્ય
અર્થાત Audio-Visual સર્જકો માટે જ નહિ, પણ
શબ્દકારો (લેખકો, કવિ અને અન્ય) તમામ માટે પણ છે. હવે કોઈપણ કલમકાર પોતાની રચના
વૈશ્વિક દર્શકો માટે પ્રકાશિત કરી શકે છે. વિશ્વની સૌથી મોટી કંપનીઓ પૈકીની એક
એમેઝોન સહિતની અનેક કંપનીઓ આ કામ માટે મેદાનમાં આવી છે. કિન્ડલ ઈ-બુક તેનું સૌથી
મોટું ઉદાહરણ છે.
કિન્ડલ ઇ-રીડર 2006માં
એમેઝોન ડોટ કોમ દ્વારા ડિઝાઇન કરાયુ અને વેચવામાં આવ્યું છે. કિન્ડલ ટૂલ
વપરાશકર્તાને ખરીદી, ડાઉનલોડિંગ, બ્રાઉઝિંગ તેમજ વાંચનની સુવિધા આપે છે. મૂળરૂપે ઇ ડિવાઇસ હવે Android-IOS આધારિત કોમ્પ્યુટર, મોબાઇલ, ટેબલેટ, કિંડલ અને એલસીડી સ્ક્રીન
સાથે પણ ઉપલબ્ધ છે. આ ઉપકરણને એમેઝોન ડોટ કોમ દ્વારા વિકસાવવામાં આવ્યું છે. અહીં દોઢ
કરોડ કરતાં પણ વધુ પુસ્તકો ઉપલબ્ધ છે અને રોજ સેંકડો પુસ્તકો અપલોડ થઇ રહ્યા છે.
હવે આપણે મૂળ વાત
કરીયે તો દરેક સર્જકને થાય કે હું મારી રચના કે રચનાઓ પુસ્તક સ્વરૂપે કેવી રીતે
ઈ-બુક તરીકે કિન્ડલ ઉપર અપલોડ કરી શકું..? સવાલ
વ્યાજબી પણ છે અને અઘરો પણ. કારણ કિન્ડલ ઉપર ઈ-બુક પ્રકાશિત કરવાની સુવિધા ઉપલબ્ધ
છે, પણ શું દરેક સર્જક કે લેખક આ ટેક્નોલોજી જાણે છે..? શું તેની
પાસે આના માટે જરૂરી સાધનો કે સુવિધા છે..? શું તે
જાતે-પોતે આ કામગીરી કરી શકે છે..? મારા મતે જવાબની બહુમતી 'ના' આવશે. તો
પછી આનો ઉકેલ શું..? ઉકેલ એ છે કે તમે અત્યંત નજીવો ખર્ચ ચૂકવી આ કામગીરી કરાવી
શકશો.
આ વાતને સીધી રીતે
સમજીયે તો એક સામાન્ય ગણતરી અનુસાર 100 પેજનું પુસ્તક કિન્ડલ વર્ઝન માટે અપલોડ
કરવું હોય તો લગભગ 3,000 રૂપિયાનો ખર્ચ કરવો પડે. તેમાં પુસ્તકનું ટાઈપિંગ, કવર ડિઝાઇન
અને અપલોડિંગ ખર્ચ આવી જાય. (નોંધ: આ ખર્ચનું અનુમાન છે, જેમાં કૃતિ-કર્તાની જરૂરિયાત અનુસાર ખર્ચમાં
થોડો ફેરફાર થશે.)
આમ કરીતે એટલે
આપણને સવાલ થાય કે તો લેખક કે સર્જકને મળશે શું..? તો કહી દઉં
કે અહીં પ્રકાશિત કરેલ પુસ્તક વિશ્વમાં પથરાયેલા કરોડો વાચકો સુધી પહોંચાડી શકાશે.
જેની કિંમત 49 રૂપિયા થી 999 રૂપિયા સુધી રાખી શકાય. જેમાંથી વેચાણકર, એમેઝોનનો
ખર્ચ તથા અન્ય ખર્ચ બાદ કરી લેખક રોયલ્ટી કમાઈ શકે. આ રોયલ્ટી જે તે પુસ્તકને
વાંચવા પોતાની કિન્ડલ એપમાં ડાઉનલોડ કરનાર વાચકની સંખ્યાના આધારે લેખકને મળે છે.
જો આટલું જ પુસ્તક
પુસ્તક તરીકે પ્રકાશિત કરાવિયે તો અંદાજિત વીસેક હજાર રૂપિયાનો ખર્ચ થાય. ત્યારપછી
પુસ્તક વાચકો સુધી પહોંચાડવાનો ખર્ચ અલગ. અહીં પણ જો લેખક-સર્જક આ તમામ 500 નકલો
વેચી શકે તો તેણે કયારેક ખર્ચ પાછો મેળવી શકે અને થોડો-ઘણો નફો પણ થાય. પણ વીસેક
હજારનો ખર્ચ અને તેમાં તૈયાર થયેલ 500 નાકાળનું વેચાણ કેવી રીતે કરવું..? શું આ શકાય
છે..? તો વળી અહીં પહોંચ પણ સીમિત થાય છે..!
કિન્ડલ વર્ઝન
(ઈ-બુક)માં વૈશ્વિક આકાશ છે અને થોડોકે જ ખર્ચ. વળી અહીં પણ તમે પેપરબુક આવૃત્તિ
પણ કરી શકો. જો કે તેની પ્રત્યેક નકલનો ખર્ચ (કિંમત) બહુ મોટી છે, છતાંય જો
ફિઝિકલ બુક જોઈતી હોય તો અહીં પણ શક્ય તો છે જ.
